The Monday Mess | The 5th Annual Pig Roast

Ok, ok, so I know it's not Monday but "The Tuesday Mess" just doesn't quite have the same ring to it. There is no way around saying this, so l'm just going to be totally honest - this week has been AWFUL and WONDERFUL all at the same time. My dad had an unexpected medical issue come up this week and we also have been planning a large pig roast for our local Blacksburg friends. Between Thursday and Sunday there was a round trip to Fredericksburg, a house full of friends and family, and BBQ with 50+ guests. By Sunday night, when it came time to write "The Monday Mess," I opened up my laptop, wrote the title of the post, and then said "NOPE, not today!" I went to bed immediately after and it was GLORIOUS!

We are incredibly thankful that Dad is back home and feeling pretty good. Before I left back home for Blacksburg he was even out mowing the lawn in the heat, despite many objections. I believe he stubbornly said something like "well the grass isn't going to stop growing for me." I guess he will not be letting anything slow him down anytime soon!

Pig Roast 2015 was incredible! :) Will and I really love having people over, and we finally feel like we have the house set up to maximize our space. From the moment we woke up till the moment we went to bed there was laughter and people filling the house. No, seriously, we woke up to our friends cooking us breakfast in our kitchen! It was definitely our kind of day. A farm raised pig was slowly cooked all day. There were yard games. There were lawn chairs. There tiki torches. There was good company. That was a good day.

This week has made us so thankful for family and friends and good times. Enjoy some of our favorites from Pig Roast 2015!! It is certainly a week to remember!

B and Christian made this for us!!! I can't believe they made this incredible sign!! It is such an amazing new piece of the Pig Roast tradition!! Gah!

Go Pro... for the extreme pig roaster.

Autumn and Alex LOVED all the attention they got...

If you know my husband, you know he likes craft beer. Some ladies and gents enjoyed rounds of these for part of the afternoon...

The pulling part of the pulled pork...

Sometimes it takes more than one try to get it right...
