This Monday, I'm typing to you poolside in sunny Key West, Fl. It is the land of warm weather, palm trees, and very few cares which perfectly fits our need for a mid-winter escape. The 75 degree temperatures alone are enough to make us run, jump, and click our heels together!! I know, I know, feel free to hate us a little if you were dealing with near zero or sub zero temperatures this week! In fact I think Will and I are letting this island paradise go to our heads a little. We started bickering about where we would set up our beach house and all the amenities it would have! Oh well, no matter who wins the better-beach-house-game we still end up with a beach house!! Oh dreams... ;) A couple things I've learned on this trip:
- I think I'll have to add "shoot a destination wedding in a tropical paradise" to our goals for 2015. It has been making me crazy driving by the unique greenery, vibrant houses, and turquoise waters. This place is a photographer's dream! I did my best to use the camera leisurely, but it hasn't been easy! I could totally be a photographer in Key West, Fl!!
- Margaritaville will not give out the next time "Jimmy" will be playing at their restaurant. Will and DJ are proud Jimmy Buffett fans and saw that he was in Key West via Facebook. He has been known to stop and play at Margaritaville when in town, so we called the restaurant several times asking for Mr. Buffett with no luck. I'm guessing they either know and are sworn to secrecy or that they really know just as much as we do. At least we still have 24 hours to make it happen!
- Duval street (the main street) is a mile long. I know this because we walk it up and back about twice a day!! There is so much going on that we still haven't seen it all! We have also hit the side streets past Earnest Hemingway's house... still looking for the 6-toed cats. In all fairness, we have probably seen a bunch, but haven't got close enough to count!!
Two plane rides, two car trips, and about 12 hours got us to our island home for the week...
The first wildlife was spotted very quickly! We heard this guy rustling in the branches and Will went ahead and named the iguanas "Florida squirrels"!!
Dad got us a Go-Pro for Christmas and it was SO much fun on this vacation! We are so excited to have a rugged camera for our crazy adventures...
Have you ever seen annoying people doing yoga in weird places... we're sorry ;)
Will and his beard usually do all the grilling BUT not this week. I found my inner grill master...
Heather took over for a couple shots including the picture on the right! I love it when people discover their inner photog!!
This was our hot ride for the week. We never came up with a vacation hashtag, but we did name the minivan Gladys!
Did I mention that there are chickens EVERYWHERE in Key West!? Do you know how many times I've heard "Why did the chicken cross the road?"!?
This rooster was not impressed with my photog skills...
One of our favorite trips was our sunset sail...
DJ was very excited about the pool noodles... Nick was not! ;)
Time to cut open the coconut!
I would say I'm going to miss this group and vacation BUT there is still one more day left!!
